Mission to the Far East

Rabbi Marvin Tokayer was asked to serve as the Rabbi to the Far East, a role he reluctantly accepted and held from 1968-1976. While there, he was fascinated to discover vestiges of Judaism and Jewish tradition being observed in parts of Japan and in Japanese Culture. He has become one of the world’s leading experts and historians on Judaism in the Orient, publishing over 21 books on the subject.
