Jacqueline Saper, named after Jacqueline Kennedy, was born in Tehran to a Mizrachi Iranian father and an Ashkenazi British mother. She witnessed the civil unrest of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. She lived in the Islamic Republic for eight years, maturing from a teenager to a mother during its most volatile times, including the Iran-Iraq war.
